Who is the new Perthshire dog trainer?
I’m Michelle, a passionate and dedicated positive reinforcement dog trainer based in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. I have moved over from Fort William were I started my business, and still run Dog Friendly Lochaber as well as act as Chair on the committee for Lochaber and District Canine Society.
How do I work as a dog trainer?
My approach is about building trust and understanding between you and your dog, while also fostering a calm and relaxed environment for both of you to learn in. I focus on rewarding good behaviours rather than punishing mistakes, helping your dog feel motivated, confident, and able to learn through curiosity.
How can I help you personally on your dog training journey?
I believe that training your dog should be a fun and enjoyable experience, not a stressful one and not a chore. That’s why I also emphasize techniques to reduce stress and anxiety, both for you and your dog and encourage learning through play. By creating a supportive and calm learning atmosphere, I aim to make every session feel like a positive bonding experience. Whether you’re working on specific behaviors or just looking to strengthen your connection, I’m here to help you on your journey.
What are my dog training certifications?
I am a CBATI-KA certified instructor and continually train and learn through the support of the Grisha Stewart Academy. I chose this academy as I personally align with their values towards both animals and people, and I appreciate their rigorous assessment criteria and continual need for reassessment every 2 years, making sure every student is up to date in our ever changing world of dogs. I’m also specifically Trauma Certified through Animal Behaviour Kent and have a wide variety of other certifications as I love problem solving and love to continually learn for my clients specific issues or my own personal curiosity.
Let’s make training a positive, stress-relieving experience that brings out the best in your dog and enhances your relationship!
The importance of community in dog training and behaviour modification
Community is something very important to me personally and professionally and I continually strive to build positive relationships between myself, vets, groomers, dog walkers and other animal behaviour professionals. These connections allow me to direct clients to the best people for their additional needs and allows us to share knowledge as we move through our industry.
